Shade Grown Tobacco in a "Screen-House".
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.4 года назад
This year we are building upon lessons learned from last year. We're growing the Havana 263 plants in the shade and under a "screen-house". This has been keeping the tobacco horn worms away and it seems to be working great!
Training a Heifer Cow to Milk Without a Stanchion
Просмотров 6 тыс.5 лет назад
Luna has never had a calf, much less been milked before. She is used to being around people, but that's about it. This is the first ten days of taking her from a being nervous heifer to standing still and having a belly milker hanging on her for 15 minutes at a time. I don't like using stanchions, as they don't fully train a cow to stand still and be milked. Plus they only control the front of ...
Harrowing with a Kubota L4701 and Land Pride DH1572
Просмотров 58 тыс.5 лет назад
We recently made a bigger investment in growing our own food. Hopefully this will allow us to increase the amount of land that we can cultivate, etc. This is a Kubota L4701 tractor with a LA765 front end loader and a Land Pride DH1572 disc harrow. Livestock Predators

For years we've had issues with predators attacking our livestock. This week we discovered that one of our pigs was down and the other two had similar issues, just not as bad.
WHEN PIGS ESCAPE (and How to Keep Them from Getting Out)
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.5 лет назад
Every pig-owners worst nightmare is to have them vanish from their pen one day. Pigs are an investment in time, money and energy, and knowing that they are safe and secure is a great comfort, especially if you are going to be away from home for any length of time. These are some things that we have come up with over the years to contain them and also to find them and bring them home if they do ...
Growing, Curing and Fermenting Tobacco Part II
Просмотров 77 тыс.5 лет назад
Day 40 through 90. This was our first year planting and curing tobacco. We learned a lot of lessons. Next year I'm going to grow them under landscape fabric to keep out the tobacco moths, plus, we will space the leaves out more in the barn to allow for more air flow in between them.
Growing Tobacco in Containers
Просмотров 53 тыс.6 лет назад
This year we're trying our hand at growing 12 tobacco plants under optimum conditions, by using containers and closely managing them on a daily basis. In a grid-down scenario, tobacco would have many uses, including barter currency. www.newhopeseed.com/havana_263_tobacco_plants.html Note We didn't use potting soil, it was Garden Soil. www.miraclegro.com/en-us/products/soils-amendments/miracle-g...

How to Re-Power a Cub Cadet Garden Tiller with a Harbor Freight Predator Engine Swap
Просмотров 13 тыс.6 лет назад
Our garden mainstay for the last several years has been our Cub Cadet tiller with a six horsepower Honda engine. This year the engine broke a connecting rod. We bought a new 6.5 horsepower Predator engine from Harbor Freight and now we have a tiller again.
Ford Econoline E350 Electronic Throttle Body Issues and Fixes, 5.4 Liter
Просмотров 65 тыс.6 лет назад
Being on a small farm and with a large family, our van is a multi-purpose vehicle and a very important part of our lives. This video addresses one of the few issues that we have had with these vans in the 430,000 miles that we have put on them over the last 12 years. This covers the replacement of the Throttle Position Sensor, the Throttle Body itself and the Accelerator Pedal and Sensor. The O...

cutting the ends off of the leaves shocks them into promoting more growth to the roots. When you make cuttings and want to root them you cut a few of the bottom leaf's like that and use a dab of root hormone

Very cool video this is my 3rd year of growing but my first yr of topping and curing I am using 20" pots and they have endured all storms but they r sheltered from our NWs n SWs I noticed I was getting day wilt in our heat and humidity which led me to over water at one point I'm using straight pro mix which may have a bit too much water retention ✌️✌️ I use an oil soap spray for aphids n such so maybe that worked for me

I talked to my Local dealer this week about trading in my 3901 for a 4701. They told me it was about 4,500 more than what mine was. I traded in my 2501 three years ago to get the 3901. Now I have just 370 hours on it.

If you grow on the east side of a building or set of trees itll get that early morning sun and when the heat of the day sets in theyll be in shade. You can set up a some taller fencing as well and plant on the east side. Just a tip to add. Also only transplant once from the initial container to its final.

I recommend that you buy an SDRPlay RSP1a (approx $120) or a genuine RTL-SDR v3.0 dongle if on a budget (approx $30). With either of these devices and a PC or tablet you can receive almost any transmissions from Long wave AM up to FM radio and TV broadcasts, satellite weather and aircraft or shipping beacons when nearby. It will open up a huge amount of info to you. Get a HAM license and learn a bit more and you'll then have the knowledge and skills if required!

As another commenter mentioned, you don't need height for a receive antenna. My shortwave antenna is 500 feet insulated wire laid directly on the ground in a big square loop. I used a weed whacker to almost scalp the grass where the wire was going, then used wire spikes to hold it down. About a month later, the grass has grown back and you can mow like normal and never hit the wire. It's crazy how good the reception is.

Tobacco uses lots of nitrogen. It depletes it in 2 seasons. Many use urine to fertilize. You can either mix 9 parts water to 1 part urine and spray plants, or just piss the garden bed a while before planting. Urine is basically free miracle gro

You Need To Counterwight The Anttenna, BUT Not With Just Some Heavy Thing, THAT Heavy Thing Needs To Be Connected To A Strong Rubber , Lets Say A Bicycle Tire Loops, Just Cut A Inner Tube Of A Bicycle In Loops, Then Knoiw Them On Each Other And THEN Put The Counterbalaance On To The Wire Of The Antennas Wire So If The Wind Blows, There Will be SOmething That Stablitates The Wire And Not Just Snaps It. :) Thats How I Use It !
